A guitar virtuoso

I enjoy playing the guitar but must admit I am not very good at it.  What I really enjoy, however, is watching others play guitar who are really good at it.  I totally delight in witnessing musical excellence and mastery of a given instrument, especially the guitar.  If someone were to ask me who my favorite guitarist is, I would reply without a doubt Joe Satriani.   Joe Satriani is a guitarist who plays at a musical and technical level above almost all other guitarists.  He has mastered or invented at least 10 performance techniques on the instrument including:  legato, two-handed tapping, arpeggio tapping, volume swells, harmonics, and extreme whammy bar effects.  He has received 14 Grammy nominations and has sold more that 10 million albums worldwide.  Joe Satriani is also a legendary guitar instructor whose students have included: Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Kirk Hammett, Charlie Hunter, Kevin Cadogan, and Alex Skolnick.  To see him perform live is simply amazing.  Below is a YouTube video of Joe performing live in 2006.  Enjoy the ride.
